City Wall of Babylon

A fellow flat mate of mine and I decided to take a few and go to Berlin before we all left Europe for home. Our last day in Berlin was dreary and rainy. We were out exploring the city and decided to go to a museum. In the center of the city there are several museums located on an island called Museum Island. Our original destination was the Atlas museum, a famous building by Schinkel (1830). We got there but for some reason didn't go in. I'm not sure why, but we ended up going to the Pergamon Museum instead. I'm really glad that we did though.

The museum houses artifacts from ancient Greece and Mesopotamia. We were looking around and went through an archway and there was the Ishtar gate and the famous walls of Babylon. . The gate and walls were unearthed in the 1930s and reconstructed in the museum in Berlin. The colors and details were so amazing for being about 2,500 years old. I'm really glad that we ended up going inside.
