Just down the coast from Long Beach is a little place called Crystal Cove. If you weren't pying attention, you'd rive right past it. It is part of the Crystal Cove state beach in the southern part of Newport Beach California. The thing that sets this place apart from all the other beaches are the restored beach houses.
The cove was an artists colony with small cottages spread up and down the beach. The state took over the beach and the cottages some years ago and they have been slowly restoring them. The cool part is that they rent out the cottages for overnight stays (they are pretty hard to get). Crystal Cove is definitely on of the besst kept secrets of Southern California.
